The Director of Academic Operations will play a pivotal leadership role in overseeing the academy's academic programs, curriculum development, and instructional operations. This position ensures the effective delivery of our curiosity-driven academics, hands-on learning initiatives, and mentorship programs while maintaining compliance with educational standards and supporting student well-being. The ideal candidate will be a visionary educator committed to empowering vulnerable youth through innovative, values-aligned education and achieving our goals of a 95% graduation rate and 85% placement in college, trade, or careers.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of the academy's curriculum, integrating STEAM, agriculture, fitness, leadership, and outdoor adventure components to promote curiosity-driven learning and real-world skills.
- Oversee academic operations, including scheduling, assessments, program evaluations, and data-driven improvements to ensure high academic standards and student success metrics.
- Manage guided mentorship and counseling programs, coordinating with staff to provide personalized academic support, character development, and well-being resources for students.
- Collaborate with the leadership team to align academic strategies with the academy's mission, values, and programs, such as hands-on projects, sustainable living initiatives, and community outreach.
- Supervise instructional staff, including recruitment, training, performance evaluations, and professional development to foster a compassionate, integrity-focused team.
- Handle academic aspects of admissions, providing guidance on eligibility and enrollment for youth ages 10-18 who are orphans or homeless.
- Monitor and report on key outcomes, including graduation rates, placement success, student progress in resilience and independence, and program effectiveness.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal educational regulations, child protection protocols, and safety standards, including required background checks for all staff.
- Promote a culture of selfless service, honesty, and compassion through policy development and team leadership, while addressing FAQs on curriculum impact, support, and student well-being.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in educational leadership, curriculum and instruction, or a related field; a doctorate (EdD or PhD) is preferred for the highest level of qualification.
- Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in K-12 education, with at least 3-5 years in academic leadership or administrative roles in private schools or institutions serving vulnerable youth; prior teaching experience is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated expertise in curriculum development, instructional design, data analysis, and compliance with educational standards, particularly in programs for at-risk youth.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills with a proven track record in managing teams, fostering inclusive environments, and driving academic excellence.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and collaboration abilities, with a deep commitment to supporting vulnerable populations through values-driven education.
- Ability to pass comprehensive background checks, including DPS/FBI criminal history checks and DCS/APS vulnerability checks.
