Our Story

Legacy Haven Academy Foundation (the Academy) emerged from my experiences in the Marines, where I met countless homeless adults—bright and capable—trapped in despair due to lost hope and opportunity. I designed a program to empower them through resilience training, starting small and expanding to transform lives. Reflecting on their stories, I realized that preventing homelessness begins in childhood, where systemic failures in education and support rob vulnerable youth, like homeless children and orphans, of their potential, leaving lasting scars.
This truth struck home as I watched my daughter, Liz, struggle in traditional schools. Misunderstandings of her unique learning style fueled her discouragement and disengagement. Tailored approaches in Arizona and the DoD Education System reignited her passion for learning, but a rigid public school system derailed her progress. Homeschooling with a standard curriculum failed to adapt to her needs. Likewise, my son, Matthew, excelled with challenges but faltered under generic methods. These experiences revealed that education must engage students individually, especially homeless children and orphans facing greater obstacles.
The Academy arose to prevent homelessness by empowering homeless children and orphans through personalized education that builds confidence and unlocks their potential.
